Long tailed tit

I love Long tails, they are by far my favourite bird. Not neccesarily to photograph but they are so cute.

These are all the same bird taken over a period of 45 mins in the forest the other day.

Tell me that it isn't cute and I'll help you find your heart.

Sun, fog, frost, rain, is it winter?

We've had it all this last week or so haven't we?

A trip to Hawling yesterday(weds) with Andy Carey gave us three out of the four in one day. On our arrival it was bright sunshine and frost. But by the time we left it was fog, fog, fog.
A few opportunities to photograph the owls presented themselves, I think that because Andy and I were the only ones there certainly up to late afternoon the owls were a little more obliging. We didn't see an owl until the fog was well and truly in situ, it was rolling in and out for most of the afternoon.

What we did have the pleasure of in the morning were Skylarks, lots of them, flittering around and singing their glorious songs. None came really close but heres a cropped pic of one that came nearest.

There were two Short eared owls that came out to play, here are a few shots.

In addition to the SEO's there was a Barn Owl flying around, he didn't come anywhere near us though so these are quite heavy crops.

By the time Andy and I were ready to go the temperature was back into the minus's and we were chilled to the bone. A good day though and at last a few shots I'm pleased with enough to show you.

My New Website.

Hello.

It's finally done. I've got my new website up and running.

Its www.bjd-wildlifeimages.co.uk after a couple of false starts due to domain names already existing (thanks Chris for pointing me in the right direction) I have finally settled for this one.

Most, if not all, of the pictures on the site so far have appeared on here so don't expect too much straight away please. I'm going to get round to sub catagories within the bird portfolio to make it easier to view specific birds. In due course I'll add mammels, reptiles, etc, etc

I'm scared yet excited, Theres a lot expected of one when one has a website, can my images hold up to expectation and critique? I hope so.

Anyway, I'd be delighted if you would go have a look, let me know what you think.

There is a link to and from here so keep checking both sites for more pics etc.

Thank you.

A Brave New World, a step into the unknown.

Hi again,

No pics again this time, but there is news. I've been deliberating over the matter of a website.

Whilst I enjoy the blog and intend to continue with it I want to take it that one step further. It is with this in mind that I have been looking for a "simple to manage" website template.

I have looked at one that was recommended to me and having had a play with it I think it is going to be simple enough for even a numpty like me.

So hopefully soon it will be up and running. I'll keep you appraised.

Short Eared Owl.

In my last post I mentioned that I had taken some shots of the SEO's at Hawling. I've had a look at them and finally decided I don't like them.

I wont post them. Believe me you're not missing anything. I guess I need to keep trying.

I guess if it was easy then everyone would be doing it.
